Note that you will have to have completed the Slack integration installation before you are able to map users.

Mapping users

In order to ensure notifications are going to the correct user Distribution Engine maps each Salesforce user to their corresponding Slack account. Distribution Engine can automatically attempt to map these users by email address as part of the installation. For any users who are not successfully matched, or if the automatic mapping process is not used, a Distribution Engine admin will need to manually map users accounts.

The automated mapping process can be re-run at any time by clicking 'rerun' mapping from the Slack integrations page.

Messaging Utility

Administrators are able to prompt users to connect their Slack and Salesforce accounts by sending a message to a Slack channel.

Once the Slack integration is installed, the Integrate tab will have an option to select a slack channel and provide custom content for a message. The message will be sent to the chosen channel, and will be accompanied by a link for users to connect their accounts. You can see the manual steps for users to connect their Slack and Salesforce accounts below.

Manually Mapping Users

In the event that the automated mapping process does not successfully match their accounts users can manually connect their Slack account to their Salesforce user. from the Distribution Engine app in Slack. The steps to do this are listed below

  1. The user must open Slack, and navigate to the Apps section
  1. From the Distribution Engine App, the user should click the Home tab.
  2. Users are then able to click the 'Connect to Salesforce' button to link their accounts. If the token expires, the user may need to click the 'refresh' button to generate a new one.

Managing Team Members

You can view the connection status of your users by going to the 'Manage Team Members' tab of Integrations. Here you will see a list of all users, their teams and their connection status.

Reminder emails

You are able to send a reminder email once a day to users who have not connected their calendars. This email contains a link that will allow the users to directly connect their accounts. You can do this by clicking the row menu of an individual user, or selecting multiple users and using the bulk activity dropdown to select 'Send Slack connection reminder'.
