Before you Begin

Before beginning the installation and setup process, the following commonly discussed topics may be useful:

Trials and full installs

Installation is always initiated from the Salesforce AppExchange listing by clicking the Get it Now button. All customers begin by installing the trial; NC Squared will convert trials to fully licensed versions after purchase.

Who needs a licence

Licences are required for every user who is a team member (receiving leads / cases) and for any managers or admins requiring access to the Distribution Engine (for configuring rules, setting out of office records or viewing analytics). Your trial install will include five licences.

Providing permissions to your users

We advise using Permission sets rather than Profiles to provide user access. Unlike Profiles, Permission sets are updated automatically when a new version of the application is released. This makes it very straightforward for your company to receive upgrades and patch releases. Three Distribution Engine Permission sets are provided with the package - Admin, Manager and User. Permission sets are covered in more detail here

Deciding which users need access to the Distribution Engine User Interface

In the most basic setup, only the admin installing the Engine needs access to the Distribution Engine setup pages. Access to Distribution Engine pages is optional for team members - the Engine will assign leads / cases and they will be accessible in standard Salesforce views.  You may however choose to enable access to features such as the Widget, Distribution logs and Out of Office.

There is no difference in licensing cost between showing or hiding the UI to your team members; it is purely a decision on how much visibility and control you want to give the team.

The install process will ask you to agree to the Distribution Engine end user licence agreement. A PDF copy of this is available for download here nc-squared.com/eula.pdf .

Licensing

Your trial install will include five licences. Licences are required for every user who is a team member (receiving leads / cases) and for any managers or admins requiring access to the Distribution Engine (for configuring rules, setting out of office records or viewing analytics). When you purchase Distribution Engine, you will have both standard Salesforce managed package licences and a team member count controlling your usage.
